We are hiring for a Tax Administrator in Marshall, MN. This position, under direct supervision, is responsible for performing routine functions relating to the preparation and filing of the business licenses, state and local tax returns, analysis of tax accounts, tax correspondence, monthly property tax accruals, etc for Schwan’s Company.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in gathering and preparing information necessary for the completion of all state and local tax returns and business licenses, all return filings including apportionment information, state tax credits, special modifications, yearend support schedules and estimate & extension vouchers and payments, and all personal property tax and unclaimed property filings and audits for all US subsidiaries

  • Assist in performing reverse sales and uses tax audits to limit the company's liability regarding sales tax payments to vendors

  • Assist Tax Analysts on a monthly basis with the analysis and balancing of all tax related accounts to the general ledger, including processing of adjustment via G/L or AP uploads.

  • Assist in gathering and preparing audit ready work papers to provide to external auditors upon request

  • Assist in the gathering and reconciling to the ledger all apportionment information used to complete the state and local return filings and the subsidiary company tax sharing liabilities

  • Request exemption certificates from exempt customers and processes vendor certificate requests

  • Respond to requests from the Local Sales Managers regarding sales tax issues and problem log requests

  • Assist with the on-line filing of various tax returns

  • Maintains the correspondence database for the tax Department and assists the Tax Manager's and Tax Analysts in responding to the taxing jurisdictions

  • Assists the Tax Managers and Tax Analysts with any special projects as needed

  • Prepares various reports required by federal, state, and local agencies as required

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year accounting or associated degree preferred, not required.

  • 1-2 years related experience or other experience in an office environment.

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis in Microsoft Excel, Solid communication and interpersonal skills; Basic proficiency with data analysis. Basic proficiency in the generation of data from electronic general ledger systems. Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple projects at once. Working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles
